Effectiveness Offamily Presence During Resuscitation (FPDR) : A Literature Review
Background: Many family members deliberately left the room when one of their family members were in critical condition. It supported with 220 patients found to be present in there suscitation of cardiac arrest, 34 patients did not do resuscitation because the DNR. The success of resuscitation in the room resuscitation was 28.5 %. To overcome suspicion resuscitation effort sin private and family expectation sare unrealistic, the
presence offamily members have the opportunity togive a final farewell and help one to understan dreality. Nowadays,family presenceduringresuscitationis agrowing trend in manyareasof health care facilities.
Objective: The purpose of this literature review was to identify the effectiveness of family presence during resuscitation.
Methods: This literature review was conducted by searching and analyzing all eligible studies from electronic databases including Science Direct, Nature and Proquest database. It emphasized on the articles investigating the effectiveness of family presenceduringresuscitation.
Result: The results of an informal survey conducted in the United Foote Hospital nurse FPDR dissidents say they fear if the family members interrupt treatment in patients who do resuscitation and grief the family can make it difficult or even impossible to make medical personnel to control their emotions.From the interviews that have been conducted on the family and the patient that supports FPDR is patient believes that the
presence of family members makes it convenient patients. The main concern was that thepsychologicaltraumacanoccurto family memberswhoviewed theresuscitation process.Familyanxietycanaffect the quality ofresuscitationperformed bymedical personnel. However, many studieshave been doneonFPDRbutstill can not explainthe impactofatradition, values andculture of differentcountries that practicethisFPDR.
Conclusion: The presence of family in duringinvasive procedures and resuscitation is controversial, anethical dilemmaand contributetoconflictingopinionsamonghealth professionals in an emergency condition. However, the movement that supports this FPDR increases associated with recent research that has been done and the request from the family becauseit is their right.
